How Often Should You Actually Be Working Out?
One of the most common questions in fitness is simple:
How often should I be working out?
The answer isn’t extreme — and it isn’t complicated.
For most people, consistent movement matters more than perfect programming. A solid baseline is moving your body most days of the week, even if it’s just 30 minutes. Walking, lifting, boxing, cycling — it all counts.
You don’t need to train every day to make progress.
You need something you can maintain.
Along with general movement, strength training a couple of days a week helps protect your joints, build muscle, and keep your body capable long-term. Add mobility or stretching when you can — it matters more than people think.
And don’t ignore recovery.
Rest days aren’t setbacks. They’re part of the process. Progress happens when effort and recovery work together.
There’s no perfect number that fits everyone.
The best routine is the one that fits your life — not the one that looks impressive on paper.
If you want help building structure without burning out, I put together a simple 30-day reset designed for people starting their fitness journey — clear habits, realistic training, and guidance you can actually stick to.
Start simple.
Stay consistent.
Build forward.
