The Part of Fitness Nobody Talks About
Getting in Shape Is the Easy Part.
Nobody talks about this when you're just starting out. Everyone's focused on losing the weight, hitting the goal, getting the body. And then you get there — and realize the work doesn't stop.
That's not a bad thing. It's just the reality nobody prepares you for.
I love to eat. Always have. Staying in shape was never easy for me because of it. But once I learned how food actually worked — calories, protein, what my body needed — everything changed. Not because I stopped eating what I liked. Because I understood what I was eating.
That awareness is everything.
Here's what maintenance actually looks like:
It's not a diet. It's not a strict plan you follow forever. It's just habits you don't quit. The same things that got you there — moving consistently, eating with some awareness, protecting your sleep — those don't go away once you hit your goal. They just become your normal.
That's the shift. From "I'm trying to get in shape" to "this is just how I live now."
For anyone just starting out:
You don't need to think about maintenance yet. But know it's coming. And know that the habits you build right now are the same ones that will keep you there later.
Start simple. Stay consistent. The rest figures itself out.
This week's challenge
Pick one habit you can see yourself doing a year from now. Not for 30 days. Not until you hit your goal. One thing you could do forever.
Start there.
